Bayern Munich teenager Adam Aznou has expressed pride after making his first-team debut at last amid plenty of praise from club officials who say he has a bright future.
Left back Aznou, 18, came on in the 80th minute of Bayern's 3-0 Bundesliga victory against Union Berlin on Saturday. The Bayern debut came two months after his first senior cap for Morocco.
"I'm very pleased and proud. Bayern are one of the best teams in the world. I have to be patient, keep working and keep at it," Aznou said.
Aznou arrived at Bayern in 2022 from Barcelona's famed La Masia academy and signed his first professional contract in May. He plays in their reserve team and also had Youth League appearances for the under-19 side.
Aznou played for the first team in pre-season tests where he impressed as well, but he had to wait for his latest milestone until Saturday.
"Adam has done very well, both in training and with the national team. He is young, he and his parents should be proud," coach Vincent Kompany said.
"He got into the game well. Now you have the feeling that you have an additional player available. He has to keep going now, there's a lot of work ahead."
Board member for sport Max Eberl said: "We think very highly of Adam, he's a huge talent.
"We're glad that he's arrived in the professional game and now played his first match. He has incredibly big potential."
