Milwaukee police are looking for the parent investigators said attacked a special education teacher in front of her students. According to court documents, at 8 a.m. Tuesday, the teacher walked into her classroom at Bruce Elementary School, and 53-year-old Eddie Caldwell was already inside.The teacher said Caldwell, a parent of one of her students, threatened to "beat her ," then pushed her against a wall and hit her in the head multiple times. According to the criminal complaint, the parent attacked the teacher in front of her entire classroom, including five adults and 29 students. One person tried to intervene. Another person entered the classroom and said Caldwell threatened to beat them, too. A witness told officers the victim never retaliated against Caldwell.Right now there's a warrant out for Caldwell's arrest. Milwaukee police said Friday they are still looking for him. Prosecutors charged Caldwell with battery to a school district officer, a felony, and disorderly conduct. WISN 12 News reporter Kendall Keys asked Milwaukee Public Schools how Caldwell gained access to the classroom. The district did not answer that question.In a statement, a spokesperson for the district said, "MPS is aware of a situation at Bruce Elementary School earlier this week. Student safety remains our primary focus at MPS. When situations occur that could impact safety, the district has policies and procedures in place. We expect everyone in our buildings to always meet our standards of conduct, especially when students are present. Due to state and federal law, the district cannot comment on the circumstances of individual students and their families. The district cannot comment on personnel matters. MPS will follow its code of conduct when addressing consequences for anyone determined to be involved."
