Nets' Dennis Schroder turns 31 years old on Sunday, 3rd-oldest on team

The Brooklyn Nets are heading into the first season of a rebuild that they hope does not last longer than it needs to before they're ready to compete. Guard Dennis Schroder, one of the players that Brooklyn could be relying on during the 2024-25 season, sees himself getting older, but also wiser.

As the NBA's account on X noted on Sunday, Schroder is turning 31 years old and with that should come with celebration for a player that has seen a lot during his time in the league. As it pertains to his role for this upcoming season, Schroder could be more important than he even knows given that the Nets do not have many veterans left on the team.

Schroder came to Brooklyn last season at the trade deadline from the Toronto Raptors in a deal that sent Spencer Dinwiddie to Toronto. Once Schroder got into the swing of things with the Nets, he proved to be one of the most valuable members on the team given his leadership ability along with his talents for creating shots for himself and others.

For the Nets, Schroder averaged 14.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game while shooting 42.4% from the field and 41.2% from three-point land. With those averages, Schroder finished the 2023-24 season ranked third on the team in points per game, tied for first in assists per game, and first in three-point shooting percentage, showing how well he played for a Brooklyn team that needed his production during its bid of trying to get back to the playoffs.
