Cason Wallace adds weight to his frame during offseason

A rookie season is typically nonstop chaotic. Like any other job, there's an adjustment period to be made. The offseason afterward is truly the only time a young player can get a chance to catch their breath and work on their craft.

Based on his social media, that's what Cason Wallace has done over the last few months. The 20-year-old was an immediate contributor for a title contender last season on the Oklahoma City Thunder. He was a 3-and-D rotation player who occasionally started.

But considering his youth, Wallace has plenty of room to grow. Expect his workload to increase as a playmaker. He also hopes to expand his offensive repertoire beyond just catch-and-shoot looks.

To do that, Wallace must add weight. Not only is it extra body armor to help you stay durable during the season, but it can also help drive to the basket and absorb contact. That's the next step in his evolution as a player. It looks like he's serious about that goal. He's added 13 pounds over the last calendar year. He went from 192 pounds to 205 pounds.

What makes the Thunder such an exciting group goes beyond their trio of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams. The role players are a perfect blend of veterans and prospects. OKC's draft capital gives it infinite flexibility to improve its roster.

Wallace has flown under the radar, but the 20-year-old could be a serious weapon for the Thunder if he continues to develop. He has starter potential and could even go beyond, considering the track record of Kentucky guards.
