Nic Anderson injury update: OU football receiver will reportedly miss Houston game

NORMAN -- It appears it will be a little later than sooner for Nic Anderson's return from injury.

OU's receiver will miss Saturday's game vs. Houston due to an injury, according to a report from 247Sports' Matt Zenitz. Sooners head coach Brent Venables said this week Anderson would be back "sooner rather than later."

Venables said last week on his coach's show Anderson had been limited during practice.

OU's latest depth chart released Saturday morning lists Deion Burks, JJ Hester and Brenen Thompson as the Sooners' starters at wide receiver.

Burks caught six passes for 36 yards and three touchdowns in OU's win over Temple. Thompson caught four passes for 16 yards, while Hester dropped two against the Owls.

Anderson caught 31 passes for 798 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2023.

The Katy, Texas, native received an All-Big 12 honorable mention acclaim last season and was a two-time Big 12 Newcomer of the Week in 2023. Anderson played in all 13 games and made six starts last season.

The Sooners will face Houston at 6:45 p.m. Saturday on SEC Network.
