The Retreat Costa Rica Unveils $3 Million Expansion

With wellness tourism on the rise, The Retreat Costa Rica, a luxury wellness boutique resort and spa, announced the start of a $3 million expansion, planned to be complete in late April 2025. The new space adds a clubhouse, three restaurants and 10 luxury lofts.

The Retreat's new facilities redefine wellness and elevate guests' experiences. All facilities incorporate sustainable elements, natural but elegant décor and locally sourced materials for cultural context.

This communal area is for guests to relax and unwind. The clubhouse will feature rich décor with ancient Indigenous relics, vintage pottery and unique plants. The space will be covered by the canopy of a Guanacaste tree, creating a lush and inviting atmosphere. Guests can also expect a 12.5-by-50-foot, single-lane lap pool with a mosaic design down the center lane, a state-of-the-art gym and a yoga shala with room for up to 50 people for group classes. The shala features serene tones, natural elements, globe lights, meditation niches, rock wall trims and backlit mirrors. The nearby gym will have eight cardio machines with mountain views, a rowing machine, elliptical, stationary bikes, a whole-body weight machine and free weights.

The Santosha Lofts

These new lofts will offer expansive western views embracing feng shui principles to help optimize guests' wellness experiences. With elements of the resort's nurturing and gentle environment in mind, these rooms have a simple and peaceful design featuring soft creams, warm taupes and bold whites to help calm the mind and relax the body. Each loft has a large bathroom with open closets, stunning chandeliers, locally carved wood features and artwork.

Dining Spaces

Three new distinct dining experiences will be located atop the club house. Mystique offers sweeping views and French inspired-dishes from two-Michelin-star Chef Richard Neat. La Diosa will serve signature small plates and artisanal cocktails, while smaller Richar's Kitchen is a poolside open kitchen offering morning coffees and after-workout juices and smoothies.
