David Gilmour is back with his latest project outside of Pink Floyd, his first in nearly a decade. The legendary rocker's new album Luck and Strange has become a quick win on charts all around the world, and it performed especially well in Western markets. In the U.S., the title blasts onto multiple rankings inside the top 10 -- and it's even brought the musician to places he's never seen before on his own.

Luck and Strange debuts at No. 1 on a pair of Billboard charts this week. The title marks Gilmour's first champion on his own on both tallies.

The set is the latest leader on the Top Album Sales chart, the ranking of the bestselling full-lengths and EPs in the U.S. of any style or on any format. In its first tracking week, Luck and Strange sold 30,300 copies, according to Luminate -- enough to send it right to No. 1.

The same project also blasts onto the Vinyl Albums list as high as a title can climb. Gilmour scores his first chart-topper on Billboard's roster of the top-selling efforts made available on vinyl. Luck and Strange sold 8,500 copies on wax in the first seven days it was available.

Before Luck and Strange arrived, Gilmour had previously risen as high as No. 4 on the Top Album Sales chart. He reached that position nearly a decade ago with Rattle That Lock. Gilmour has now snagged four top 10s on the tally on his own.

That same set also stood as his best showing on the Vinyl Albums tally, until now. Gilmour had come much closer to running the show on that chart, though. Rattle That Lock peaked at No. 2 when it debuted on the list in 2015. So far, those two efforts mark his only top 10 wins on the vinyl-only roster.

As a member of Pink Floyd, Gilmour has previously reached the summit on both the Top Album Sales and Vinyl Albums charts. The band has collected a pair of No. 1s on the two tallies, though with completely different projects.
