Former Barcelona presidential candidate outlines how club can sign Man City superstar in 2025

The name of Erling Haaland has been doing the rounds again at FC Barcelona, with reports suggesting that Joan Laporta is seemingly looking at the possibility of signing him in 2025 to boost his presidential election campaign.

Haaland, one of the most lethal strikers in the game currently, had been on Laporta's agenda back in 2022 as well but ended up signing for Manchester City instead.

And even though he is about to sign a new contract with the Premier League champions, it has been suggested that the Norwegian striker is insisting on inserting a release clause, leaving the doors open for clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Earlier today, former Barcelona presidential candidate, Victor Font, lashed out at Laporta and his board during a press conference, criticising the way things are being handled by the current administration.

During the same presser, Font was also asked about the club possibly signing Haaland from Manchester City in 2025 given their current financial situation.

Responding, the ex-presidential candidate, who lost to Laporta in the elections in 2021, stated that Barcelona would be in a position to sign the Norwegian goal machine if they generate profits this year and find a way to resolve the Barça Studios issue.

"Aspiring the signing of Haaland in 2025 will depend on the economic situation. If the club generate ordinary profits and solve the 'scam' of Barça Studios, they can face the signing they want," he said, as quoted by SPORT.

Signing Haaland, however, will be anything but easy, considering that other top clubs like PSG and Real Madrid are also likely to be in the race while Manchester City themselves will not let go of their star man without a fight.
