Spectrum is making a major push to expand internet and TV service to underserved communities across rural America. The company's multi-year Rural Construction Initiative, a massive $9 billion investment, aims to connect approximately 1.75 million new homes and small businesses with high-speed broadband, mobile, TV, and voice services. One of these areas is in Steele County, Minnesota, where Spectrum is connecting 50 homes and small businesses.
"Spectrum is bringing gigabit broadband to unserved communities in Minnesota and across America," said Matt Brown, Senior Director of Construction leading Spectrum's Minnesota buildouts. "Our investment is making it possible to deliver the high-value broadband, mobile, TV and voice services now available in Steele County."
This initiative, partially offset by over $2 billion in government support funding, is bringing critical connectivity to areas that have long been overlooked by traditional broadband providers. The expansion focuses on delivering reliable and affordable services to rural areas, bridging the digital divide and creating new opportunities for residents and businesses.
Addressing the Connectivity Gap
State Senator John Jasinski praised Spectrum's efforts, stating, "Many areas of our state have remained without access to reliable connectivity because of vast terrains and challenges of expanding infrastructure there. Thanks to Spectrum's partnership, more families and small businesses now have access to high-speed internet in Steele County and have greater access to opportunity as a result."
This significant investment in rural broadband expansion underscores Spectrum's dedication to connecting underserved communities and ensuring equitable access to essential services in the digital age. This is one of the areas Spectrum hopes to use to help return to growth with high speed internet.
