The Philadelphia 76ers offseason free-agent prize was Paul George, signing him to a four-year $212 million max contract in July.
George had spent his previous five seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers, making the NBA All-Defensive First Team in his debut season with L.A and being named an NBA All-Star four times.
It's probably safe to say, despite some injuries, that George proved to a valuable addition for the Clippers during his time there.
Now, quickly fast-forward to Wednesday night, where the 15-year-veteran returned to Los Angeles to face the Clippers in a Sixers uniform.
As things tend to go in professional sports, whenever a star players switches laundry, the chances of them getting booed when they face their former team are relatively high.
Well, that's exactly what happened during the Clippers' 110-96 win over the 76ers.
Check out George's initial blunt reaction:
"I mean, you know, it's stupid," George said after being asked if the booing bothered him.
"I mean, I was a free agent. You know what I mean, I was a free agent. It wasn't something that I demanded a trade or went against the team here. I was a free agent. The team presented something that was team friendly and I did what was best for me in that situation. There was the cheers, I appreciate them, those were the ones that I played hard for. The boos, I didn't get it. I still don't get it when I go to Indy."
As expressed by George more than couple times, he was a free agent. With the Clippers offering a team-friendly deal -- also known as far less money than Philadelphia was offering -- the 36-year-old decided to take what would likely be one last splash with a max contract.
Had the money on the table been equal, which it clearly was not, the boos heard from Clippers fans would have been far more understandable.
However, as George aptly stated at the end of the clip, "It is what is, it's sports."
It's worth noting that "PG13" -- now wearing No. 8 for the Sixers -- played a ridiculously efficient 24 minutes, scoring 18 points on nine shots to go along with sevens assists, three steals, and a block for good measure.
