BELTON -- The Camdenton Lady Lakers scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning Friday night, getting past the Jefferson City Lady Jays for a 2-1 semifinal victory in the Class 4 District 7 Tournament.
Jefferson City led 1-0 heading into Camdenton's half of the sixth inning. Cayden VonSande drew a one-out walk, then Kodi Stidham singled and advanced to third base on an error, scoring VonSande for the tying run.
After a groundout for the second out, Peyton Baker doubled to right field to score Stidham for the go-ahead run and a 2-1 Camdenton lead.
The Lady Lakers erased a leadoff walk in the seventh by turning a double play on a bunt. Maleighka Luebbering drew a two-out walk to put the tying run on base again, but VonSande ended the game with a strikeout to earn the win in two innings of relief.
Jefferson City took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning. Luebbering and Allison Carwile both walked, then Kaylee Redcay singled into center field, scoring Luebbering.
Nickerson added a two-out single in the sixth inning for the Lady Jays' other hit.
Summer Branch started the game with five no-hit innings for Jefferson City. She finished the game with eight strikeouts and two walked allowed, giving up two hits in the sixth.
Jefferson City, the No. 3 seed in the districts, concludes the season with an 18-13 record.
Second-seeded Camdenton (18-11) will face top-seeded Belton in the district title game at 5:30 p.m. Monday.
