MONTREAL: Over the past three years, Union des Cèdres and HPIC have partnered to provide critical medical assistance to Lebanon. Together, they have delivered $2 million worth of essential medicines to healthcare institutions such as the Children Cancer Centre Lebanon (CCCL), Cedars Medical Association (CMA), Jezzine Hospital, Bcharre Hospital, Karantine Public Hospital, Naef K. Basile Institute for Cancer at AUBMC, and the Tripoli Hospital.
Now in its fourth year of crisis, Lebanon continues to face severe economic, political, and social challenges. Soaring inflation and unprecedented currency devaluation have only worsened the situation. Recent armed clashes along the southern border have displaced thousands of families, further deepening the humanitarian crisis. An estimated 80% of the population now lives in extreme poverty, struggling to access basic needs, including healthcare and vital medicines.
"In light of the extremely volatile and unpredictable situation in Lebanon today, the partnership between Union des Cèdres and their donors has been crucial in allowing HPIC to prioritize the medical needs of Lebanese patients. We applaud Union des Cèdres and their supporters for reaching this significant milestone. Their dedication has made a lasting impact on the lives of families and communities in Lebanon," said Lois Brown, President of HPIC.
"Thanks to the invaluable generosity of our donors, Union Des Cèdres continues to transform lives, providing vital support to those who need it most," says Pascale Salem, a member of Union Des Cèdres.
L'Union Des Cèdres is a non-profit organization that was founded in Montreal in early 2019 by five prominent members of the Lebanese community. Its primary goal is to assist the sick in Lebanon by sending much-needed medicines.
Since 1990, HPIC has been committed to improving access to medicine and healthcare in vulnerable communities worldwide. With a Drug Establishment License from Health Canada, HPIC is uniquely positioned as the only Canadian charity capable of handling and distributing high-quality donated medicines to international communities in need.
HPIC's mission remains steadfast: increasing access to essential medicines and improving health outcomes for vulnerable populations in Lebanon and around the globe. Since 2001, HPIC has delivered over $30 million worth of essential medicines to healthcare facilities in Lebanon.
