NORTH CAROLINA (WLOS) -- Gov. Josh Stein is set to announce new actions on reproductive rights and freedoms for women in North Carolina on Jan. 16.
The North Carolina governor will travel to Charlotte this afternoon for a press conference, where he plans to declare his plans. The conference will begin at 2 p.m.
While Stein was on the campaign trail, he vowed to protect access to reproductive health care for all residents of North Carolina. He said he would fight to make certain that all women in the state are still able to access contraception, IVF or abortion.

As of July 2023, North Carolina law restricts abortions after 12 weeks of pregnancy, with several exceptions. In cases of rape or incest, abortions in the state are legal up to 20 weeks. In cases of a "life-limiting fetal abnormality," abortion is legal up to 24 weeks.
It is currently uncertain what action Stein will propose.
