But how do we know which energy drinks are worse for us than others?
The publication 'Eat This, Not That!' ranked energy drinks based on their sugar content to help consumers make informed choices. They compared popular energy drinks, looking at how much sugar each one contained relative to daily recommended limits.
The article, '13 Energy Drinks With the Most Sugar -- Ranked!' highlights that many of these drinks far exceed the recommended 50 grams of added sugar per day. The ranking starts with drinks containing the least sugar and ends with the most sugary option, all of which contain more sugar than a single beverage should.
'Eat This, Not That!' determined that Rockstar Energy Drink is the #1 highest-sugar energy drink and had this to say about the beverage:
With a whopping 63 grams of sugar per can, that's not to mention the relatively high number of calories and carbs as well as the amount of sodium. While the brand does offer sugar-free options -- including everything from the original flavor to Pure Zero Silver Ice and Limón Pepino -- you may still want to keep an eye out for other potentially iffy ingredients.
