Pakistan triumphed over the home side, Australia in Perth as they defeated them by eight wickets following their win in Adelaide by nine wickets. After conceding a defeat in the first game of the series in Melbourne, the Asian side bounced back incredibly to win a bilateral series down under after 22 years.

With this 1-2 series defeat against Pakistan, Australia marked their first ODI series loss at home after 2123 days, i.e., since India won the series by a 2-1 margin in 2019 where MS Dhoni was named the Player of the Series.

Australia's last ODI series loss at home came under the captaincy of Aaron Finch. They started the series in Sydney following the Test series loss on a high with a 34-run win over India.

Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh and Peter Handscomb scored fifties and Jhye Richardson took 4/26, dismantling the Indian middle order for his Player of the Match award. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma's valiant effort of 133 went into vain.

Yuzvendra Chahal stepped up in the series decider with a 6/42 in the first innings, bundling Australia for 230. Bhuvneshwar dismissed Finch for three games in a row as well. Despite an early couple of wickets, India pulled through with Dhoni's 87(114) and Kedar Jadhav's 61(57), clinching the decider in the final over by 7 wickets.

Since the aforementioned series, Australia have won all of their next six series, with 14 wins and just 2 losses. before Pakistan ended their run on Sunday, November 10.
