Despite Apple's (AAPL, Financial) attempts to expand the use of AI, the firm's AI capabilities are significantly behind those of market competitors, including OpenAI, where internal appraisals demonstrate that Siri is considerably less effective than ChatGPT. As reported by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Siri's accuracy and response speed are 25% and 30% worse than ChatGPT.
According to the research conducted by AI division of Apple, Apple is at least two and half year behind the generative AI technology compared to the current market leaders. This gap is even more significant as competitors begin to enhance their AI solutions even faster.
However, that does not mean that Apple is not investing in the development of AI technology. The technology titan is quite aggressive in the bid to include artificial intelligence features across its product portfolio. The new iPad Mini is even integrated with hardware for Apple's latest Apple Intelligence AI platform. Features of this platform will be realized with further development of updates to the software.
Previously, Apple has been able to integrate technological upgrades well across devices, showing signs of great advancements in the near future. The company is targeting to bring more AI features into more products like iPhone SE and MacBooks, seeking to reduce the gap between it and other leading AI brands like OpenAI and Google.
At the moment, AI is not predominant in Apple's product appeal; however, the brand's power and scope will enable it to enhance its position in the emerging AI war.
