The waste and recycling team of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, UK is sending a plea to residents to keep batteries out of their trash following another fire at the Carnaby Household Waste Recycling Site.
Firefighters were able to suppress the fire quickly with no injuries and allowed the facility to operate as normal as the fire only damaged the side of the building. A spark created by batteries being discarded is considered the cause of the fire.
The council is reminding residents that there are proper ways to dispose of batteries or vapes to avoid these kinds of incidents.
