Ex-Bears quarterback arrested for driving intoxicated and gun charge

The Chicago Bears are off to a great start, but one of their former players is in the news for the wrong reasons.

Former Bears quarterback was arrested in Franklin, Tennessee after he rear-ended another vehicle and was found to be intoxicated and in possession of multiple firearms, according to WGN News.

"Cutler allegedly rear-ended another vehicle and was slurring his words with bloodshot eyes, according to police," wrote WGN News' Andy Koval.

Cutler refused field sobriety tests and was taken to the hospital. There, he had a blood sample taken after a warrant was obtained. The police found two firearms in Cutler's car, including a loaded pistol.

"He was charged with DUI-first offense, possession of a handgun-under the influence, failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision and implied consent," wrote Koval.

According to NBC 5 in Chicago, Cutler has been living in Tennessee after finishing his career in the NFL.

"Cutler was booked in the Williamson County Jail shortly before 7 p.m. and given a $5,000 bond. He was released at 9:59 p.m. the same evening," wrote ESPN's Courtney Cronin.

Cutler played for the Bears for eight seasons. He led them to the NFC Championship game in the 2010-2011 season. He has not played in the NFL since 2017. Cutler was 52-52 as a starter with the Bears and threw for over 23,000 yards and 154 touchdowns. Cutlet started his career as a first-round pick of the Denver Broncos. He was traded to the Bears in 2009.
