Celtics' Baylor Scheierman attended Colorado-Nebraska football game with Derrick White

Boston Celtics players Baylor Scheierman and Derrick White stopped by to watch Nebraska host Colorado on Saturday in front of an announced attendance of 86,906 at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln.

Scheierman, who was born in Nebraska and played at South Dakota State and Creighton, was there to support the Cornhuskers, while White, who played one year with the Buffaloes, was there to watch his program. They were even shown before the game on the field tossing around the football.

The two players witnessed a dominating 28-10 victory by Nebraska. Quarterback Dylan Raiola threw for 185 yards and one touchdown, and Dante Dowdell rushed for 74 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Cornhuskers to their first 2-0 start since 2016.

Scheierman was the 30th pick by the Celtics after averaging a career-high 18.5 points, nine rebounds and 3.9 assists on 38.1% shooting from 3-point range last season. He is the only men's player with 300 rebounds and 110 3s in a season in the last 30 years.

The soon-to-be 24-year-old debuted with the Celtics in the NBA Summer League, averaging 11.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists and one steal on 36.2% shooting from the field in five appearances. He scored in double figures four times, including 15 points and five rebounds on July 19.

Scheierman is the Celtics' first first-round pick since Aaron Nesmith and Payton Pritchard in 2020. However, he was viewed as one of the most NBA-ready prospects in the draft this year and should have the opportunity to contribute for coach Joe Mazzulla.
