A four-goal performance by Jose Ramirez powered San Marcos boys soccer to a 4-2 win over Leuzinger High in the South Torrance Tournament opener on Friday.
"We did a very good job defensively and in the midfield," Royals assistant coach Scott Bradley said. "Yael Solano and Yovani Diego were rock solid tonight and Erik Torres was a force leading the offense tonight."
Ramirez opened up the scoring with a goal early in the first half, but Leuzinger answered with two unanswered scores to take the lead.
Luis Campos then found Ramirez in the box, who rose up over the crowd and headed the ball into the back of the net for the equalizer.
The game remained tied up until Ramirez broke through with a penalty goal in the second half. He added on one more goal for good measure to secure the 4-2 San Marcos win.
