New faculty join wildcat family - Optimist

The fall semester is in full swing, with students adjusting to the ebb and flow of campus and 20 new full-time faculty members growing the love of the Wildcat family.

Courtney Deaver has been a clinical educator at the ACU Center for Speech Language and Learning for the past 6 years, and she will continue that role on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This year she is the new instructor in the Communication Sciences and Disorders Department.

"I hope to create a classroom environment where the students feel comfortable asking questions and motivate them to think critically," Deaver said. "I love that ACU provides a space where I feel challenged and supported at the same time, and I hope to provide that same feeling to my students."

Dr. Brianne George is the new associate professor in the Department of Psychology. She is a licensed clinical psychologist, and she is retired from the US Air Force where she worked as a psychologist and intelligence analyst. Before these roles, she worked as the Director of Psychological Health for Dyess Air Force Base and as a VA Mental Health Examiner.

"I am new to academia, so I am learning the ropes and practicing patience with myself as a result," George said. "I hope to cultivate meaningful coursework and even more meaningful relationships with students, faculty and staff."

These are just two of the new faculty bringing new ideas and excitement to the future plans of learning throughout campus. Professors like Deaver and George said they value ACU and the opportunity for growth that it provides.
