Caitlin Clark Reveals Indiana Fever's X-Factor

Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever have been one of the best teams in the WNBA since the return from the month-long Olympic break. They have won eight of their ten games since then and even secured their first winning record in over five years.

A big part of the Fever's success is because of the exceptional play of their star rookie. While her playmaking has been consistent throughout the year, Clark has found her rhythm shooting the ball, scoring over 20 points in each of the last five games. She even won August's Player of the Month award.

But the Fever are more than just one player, and Clark would be the first to tell you that. After Sunday's win over the Atlanta Dream, the former Iowa Hawkeyes star revealed that guard Lexie Hull is Indiana's X-factor for their potential playoff run.

"I'm super proud of [Hull], but I think she does a lot of things for us that don't show up in the box score," Clark said. "She's all over the floor. I mean, she guards their best player all night, so I'm just really proud of her. She's our X-factor. Lexie's incredible."

Like Clark, Hull has heated up at the right time for Indiana. She was recently placed into the starting lineup and has delivered. Against the Dream, Hull drained four of her five three-point attempts. She also produced a career-high of 22 points a few weeks ago against the Seattle Storm.

The former Stanford Cardinal has started for the Fever in the last six games, helping the Fever go 5-1 during that timespan. On the season, Hull is averaging 5.6 points, 2.4 rebounds and one assist, but it's the hustle plays that have helped her stand out and become the X-factor.

Hull was selected with the No. 6 pick in the 2022 WNBA draft. After starting for a majority of her games last season, Hull was brought to the bench to begin 2024. But she has since earned back her starting spot and has found the perfect next to Clark.
