Marvin Harrison Jr. Is Who We Thought He Was

Even in a wide receiver class that was arguably the deepest and most talented in modern NFL draft history, Marvin Harrison Jr. was widely regarded as the prize of the group, and perhaps the best overall player in the entire 2024 draft.

A rare talent with the polish to make an immediate impact, Harrison was drafted higher than most rookies in just about every fantasy football draft, and why many analyst, and most analysts had no problem making lofty comparisons between him and his father, who is a Hall of Fame receiver by the same name.

That's why it was shocking to see Harrison catch just one pass for a measly four yards in his regular-season debut for the Arizona Cardinals, a 34-28 road loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Harrison dropped his only other target that day, and Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray never saw him streaking wide-open down the field for what could have been the game-winning touchdown in the final minutes.

Hopefully, if you drafted Harrison in your league, you didn't give up on him after one bad week.

That's because the former Ohio Stat star dominated from the start in Sunday's blowout win over the Los Angeles Rams, catching four passes for 130 yards and two touchdowns in a 41-10 shocker.

Harrison showed off all the impressive traits that made scouts and media alike fall in love with his skill set going back to his time in Columbus, as he scorched the Rams' secondary on multiple occasions for big plays, living up to his legendary name.

It's truly unfair to compare any incoming rookie to a Hall of Famer, but it was near-impossible not to do it with Harrison, and not just because his dad played the same position and even has the same name. Harrison's combination of size, athleticism and finely tuned technique made him the closest thing we've seen to a perfect receiver prospect in recent memory.

There's still an ocean between the younger Harrison and where his dad's legacy waits in Canton, but if his performance Sunday is any indication, he'll have every opportunity to make a family reunion with a gold jacket of his own someday.
