Margie Hoagland King Maxwell, 100, of Owensboro, passed away Wednesday Oct. 16, 2024, at the Heartford House while under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. She was born May 24, 1924, in Ohio County, to the late Hobert and Ova Mae Mosley Hoagland. Margie moved to Evansville, Indiana right out of high school and worked as an electric arc welder on the Landing Ship Tanks (LST) during World War II. She later met and married Ernest King whom she spent forty-six years and five months until his death in 1992. She was a hairdresser for thirty-three years having owned and operated Crown III Beauty Salon for several years before retiring in 1984. After retirement she moved to Owensboro to be closer to her family. She was a member of Yellow Creek Baptist Church where she met Paul Maxwell Sr. whom she married in 1996.
She loved nature, beautiful sunsets, flowers and birds, especially hummingbirds. Also loved to travel, spend time with her family, and watch UK basketball.
