THE husband of Aussie TV star Erin Jayne Plummer was found dead near a cliff after going missing, it has emerged.

Alan Plummer, 49, failed to meet with a pal on Sunday after planning to go paddling together at 6.30am.

Australian media and police initially reported that Alan was found dead at the family's Freshwater home in northern Sydney on Saturday in a suspected self harm incident.

But now cops say he was found at the foot of a cliff at Freshwater beach on Sunday, according to the Daily Mail.

A NSW Police spokesperson told the outlet: "Officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner regarding the death of a 49-year-old man at Freshwater on Sunday."

When Alan did not show up for the Sunday morning swim, his friend called the police to request a welfare check.

Officers then showed up at his home and informed his 18-year-old daughter that her dad was missing.

Alan's body was tragically found by a lifeguard an hour later, the Mail reports.

He is feared to have taken his own life.

Alan's death comes two years after losing his wife Erin to suicide.

The four-bedroom house Alan once lived with his late wife was sold at a private auction just two months before his death.

The Plummers paid $675,000 for the property in 2002, and it was first put up for sale in March of this year.

Erin was just 42 when she tragically died from suicide in 2022 after struggling with mental illness.

The Aussie TV host was best known for her work on daytime shows - including Today Extra and Studio 10.

The presenter also won 11 national titles and competed in three world championships as a synchronised swimmer for Australia.

One of her heartbroken pals previously said she regretted not "trying harder" to return her call after missing it days before the star took her own life.

Posting in a public Facebook memorial group, Danielle Lamour shared a heart-wrenching tribute as she referenced a home appliance company Erin previously promoted on TVSN.

She wrote: "Have watched this video over and over today to hear your laugh. It sums up our years spent as the "Danoz girl".

"You in front of the camera filled with charm, me behind it making you laugh and getting the best out of you.

"Will always regret not trying harder to return your call last week, should have tried a 2nd, 3rd, 4th time.

"So thankful we kept our friendship going over the years and were much more than "old work mates".

"You used to announce to the world that I was the best boss, but in reality, the best thing was you."
