Ellensburg's Macey Holloway and Selah's Chloe Myers both won one individual event and qualified for state in two at Friday's District 5/6 girls swimming championships in Pullman.
The Bulldogs finished second to defending 2A runner-up Pullman thanks in large part to Holloway, who won the 100 fly with a personal-best of 1:01.77 and clocked a 2:07.39 to capture third in the 200 free. She also swam on Ellensburg's winning 200 free relay team and the 400 free relay that qualified for state while becomes the first team in the Valley to go under 4:00.
Myers beat the state qualifying standard in both of her individual events, winning the 50 free in a Valley-best 25.25 and just missing first by less than a hundredth of a second in the 100 free with another Valley-best of 56.62. She also swam the backstroke on the Vikings' 200 medley relay team that earned a state berth by finishing third.
Prosser placed third as a team and finished second in the 200 free relay, a hundredth of a second behind Ellensburg. Zillah sophomore Kellee Muffett swam personal-bests in the 200 IM and 100 back to qualify in both events for the second straight year.
The 2A state championships, which also includes swimmers from schools in lower classifications, will be held next Thursday through Saturday at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.
