CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - For 10 years, Samaria Rice has continued to fight for justice for her son, Tamir.
His story is a tragic one. The 12-year-old's killing by a Cleveland Police Officer made worldwide headlines.
Since then, Samaria continues to celebrate her son's life, despite the horrific circumstances.

The event will feature several keynote speakers, including a performance from recording artist, Syleena Johnson.
Miss Rice says the event not only celebrates Tamir's life, but also an engine to receive donated funds for her Afrocentric Cultural Center on 61st and St. Clair in Cleveland.
Rice says, "I'm hoping to raise a million dollars. I want to complete the Afrocentric Cultural Center that I have on 61st and St. Clair, which once it's completed... and it was created for after-school programming in the community for children that qualify for the program. That's one reason why I want to have the gala, but also honor him, bring the community together. Some of the people that I've worked with over the years together."
