Did Chiefs 'Need' Close Victories in Weeks 1 and 2?

The Kansas City Chiefs were able to beat the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2 of the regular season, and it came down to the final seconds of the game.

In a recent article by Bleacher Report, they look at what the biggest takeaways are from each game in Week 2. For the Chiefs, he thinks that them winning both of their first two games in close fashion is necessary for the team going forward.

"As the Chiefs try to become the first NFL team to win three consecutive Super Bowls, they need early tests to help them prepare for every club's best effort in a long season," Bleacher Report writes. "With two razor-thin win margins, Kansas City is reinforcing its championship mettle while chasing history."

The two teams that the Chiefs have faced in the first two weeks of the season are teams that could make some noise in the AFC come time for the playoffs, but the reigning Super Bowl champions were able to get the win against both of them.

While the Chiefs would most likely rather win in more convincing fashion, it could be a blessing in disguise. The fact that the Chiefs have not gotten a blowout win could mean that the team will not get complacent over the course of the season, and that is one thing they can't do.

If the Chiefs can continue to prove themselves against AFC teams that could make the playoffs, they could be in great position to make some noise in the conference come time for the playoffs.
