Watch: Liam Payne Shared How He Wanted to Be Remembered 2 Years Before His Death
One day after three people of interest were detained in relation to the One Direction alum's Oct. 16 death, his friend Rogelio "Roger" Nores, an Argentine businessman, is shutting down that he has any involvement in Liam's death or the ongoing investigation.
"I never abandoned Liam," Nores said in a statement to the Daily Mail Nov. 8. "I went to his hotel three times that day and left 40 minutes before this happened. There were over 15 people at the hotel lobby chatting and joking with him when I left."
And while Nores says that he is not under investigation, he did say he spoke to authorities shortly after Liam had died following his three-story fall off a balcony at CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires.
"I could have never imagined something like this would happen," Nores continued. "I've given my statement to the prosecutor on October 17 as a witness and I haven't spoken to any police officer or prosecutor ever since."
