GASTONIA, N.C. (WBTV) - The spotlight is shining on Gastonia.

Scenes from the feature film "Apopka" are being shot in Gastonia, according to City of Gastonia Government.

The film stars actress Sydney Sweeney, who will be portraying boxing champion Christy Martin. The movie will focus on Martin's story, rise to fame and personal struggles.

While movie crews filmed this week, there was light traffic control on East Airline Avenue, Warren Avenue and near Ozark Avenue.
