Many of their children were inside the building, many of whom have special needs."They are face down, in the dark, behind locked doors. They're told not to make any noise. I don't know what's going on.' They have her hiding under chairs and desks with other classmates," Soto said. Many of the children have unique conditions like autism."With autistic children, if you know, they have a set schedule. Everything has to be in order," Pineiro said. "One little thing goes wrong, and they freak out. She hasn't eaten. She hasn't seen us. This is very difficult right now." Next to the school is an apartment complex where residents also waited for hours before being allowed back in.
