Chris Jericho wants to return to CMLL 'many, many times'

Chris Jericho doesn't want his match at CMLL's 91st Anniversary Show to be a one-off.

For the first time in nearly three decades, Jericho will wrestle for CMLL when he faces Mistico at the Aniversario event on Friday, September 13. While appearing on CMLL's Informa talk show ahead of the match, Jericho said he doesn't think this will be the only time he competes for CMLL. He would love to return to Mexico many times in the future.

"I have such a great story and such a great history in Mexico that it makes perfect sense to come back to wrestle as much as I can," Jericho said. "I would love to be in the Grand Prix, and I would love to do a mask vs. hair match. All of the things that I've done in Mexico in the past, I would love to return to again.

"It's amazing to me that it took 30 years to return to Arena Mexico, but I don't think that this match vs. Mistico is the only time that I'll return. I would like to come back many times. I love wrestling in Mexico, I love the fans, and there are so many great luchadores in CMLL. Like I said, there's no reason why I can't come back many, many times."

Jericho wrestled as Corazon de Leon (Lionheart) in Mexico early in his career. He said on Informa that Mexico is part of his history, his present, and he wants to make it part of his future as well.

In June, Jericho made a surprise return to CMLL for an angle where he attacked Mistico and kicked off their feud.

AEW and CMLL have a close working relationship that began with Mistico wrestling on Rampage last year. Willow Nightingale and Orange Cassidy are also competing at the CMLL Anniversary show. Nightingale is making her first defense of the CMLL Women's Championship against Zeuxis.
