Chainsaw Man fans won't have to wait too long for this anticipated film.
During Jump Festa 2025, the legendary Studio MAPPA unveiled a brand-new trailer for the upcoming Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc. Fortunately, it also uploaded it to its official YouTube Channel, which allowed fans around the world to take their first true glimpse of this ambitious cinematic project.
MAPPA always delivers with some high-quality animation, and the upcoming Chainsaw Man movie is obviously no exception. This trailer showcases some fluid movement, stunning action scenes and carefully crafted lighting and cinematography. It's evident that the higher budget cinematic production is benefiting this film, and it already looks better than season 1 of the Chainsaw Man anime (Even though the art style is a bit different).
The trailer also confirms that Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc will come out in theaters sometime in 2025, which is great news for fans who worried they were not going to be able to watch it until 2026 and beyond. The director of this film is Tatsuya Yoshihara, who also worked as a director on Black Clover, and the entire Japanese voice cast from the anime will return to their roles, with the new addition of Reina Ueda as the titular Reze.
Don't be mistaken, because Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc is not your typical non-canon filler anime movie created to market the main series. In reality, it will cover one of the most important canonical story arcs from the original manga, and it will pick up exactly where the final episode of season 1 left. On top of that, if MAPPA greenlights a second season of the Chainsaw Man anime in the future, its plot will follow the events of this film. Because of this, I advise fans who haven't read the manga to refrain from watching this new trailer, as it contains various spoilers, including a brief glimpse at the arc's climax.
Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc is yet another example of a new trend within the anime industry that began with the monumental success of Demon Slayer - The Movie: Mugen Train back in 2020. Nowadays, animation studios prefer to adapt canonical arcs into feature films instead of creating brand-new stories that weren't present in the original manga. Studio MAPPA itself also delved into this trend a few years back when it released the movie adaptation of Jujutsu Kaisen 0 in 2021, which also ended up becoming a huge worldwide success. This means that fans of the Chainsaw Man anime will not want to miss the Reze Arc movie when it arrives in theaters sometime next year.
