Michael Cole Will Be Calling RAW On Netflix, Confirms New WWE Contract
Fightful Select has provided an update regarding WWE NXT Superstar Stephanie Vaquer following her in-ring debut on last week's episode.
Vaquer secured a victory over Wren Sinclair during the live CW broadcast on Tuesday night.
Sources within AEW stated that Vaquer left a positive impression with her match against Mercedes Mone AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door 2024. However, shortly after the event, they realized that WWE had contacted her, and she intended to sign with the promotion.
Nonetheless, many were shocked by how quickly Vaquer's WWE contract came together.
Multiple AEW sources expressed that while they understood WWE's interest in signing an exceptional talent that AEW also sought, they were puzzled by her being pulled from her CMLL commitments before she could relinquish her title.
At the time of her signing with WWE, Vaquer held both the CMLL World Women's and World Women's Tag Team Championships. Following her departure from CMLL and signing with WWE, she was stripped of both titles.
The report states that Vaquer's participation in several of WWE's recent live events in Mexico helped alleviate some of the backlash regarding WWE's decision to pull her from her scheduled CMLL appearances after her signing.
Moreover, WWE officials seem very pleased with Stephanie Vaquer, and she is reportedly enjoying her experience in NXT so far.
Sources associated with NJPW and AEW believe that talent participating in future Forbidden Door or other AEW co-promoted events may need to sign an agreement preventing them from immediately joining WWE or may at least be required to be under a certain type of contract rather than making a separate arrangement.
