Area Roundup: Taylor nets three; Knights sharp in field hockey opener

Field Hockey

North Andover 3, Westford Academy 0

Julianna Taylor netted the only three goals in the game, with Elle Gordon picking up a pair of assists as the Knights opened with a sharp performance. Sofia Bea was immense with 16 saves in the shutout.

Central Catholic 4, Wachusett Regional 4

In an early-season collision of Division 1 state powers, Kerri Finneran scored two and assisted on the other two as the Raiders moved to 1-0-1. Celinna Perham and Franchesca Thurston added Central goals. Ava Perrotta made a dozen saves in goal.

Timberlane 2, Merrimack 1

Brooke Salafia scored both Owls goals, each coming off assists from Taylor Alperin. Lilly Clark stood strong in net with 15 saves.

Pinkerton 10, Memorial 1

Jaelynn Crossman paced the win with four goals and an assist for the Astros. Gwen Lee and Cayden Madeiros, each of whom scored twice, delivered their first career varsity goals.

Lebanon 1, Pelham 1

Addie Breault made an amazing stop on a late penalty stroke to preserve the tie for the Pythons. Cassidy Harrington netted the Pelham goal with an assist to Kenzie Comtois.

Girls Soccer

Whittier Tech 1, Greater Lowell 1

Georgia Jackson netted the Whittier goal, and Cali Moore made nine saves as the Wildcats earned the stalemate with the Gryphons.

Timberlane 4, Dover 1

Alli Harb and Brooke Langlois each scored twice for 3-0 Timberlane. Rylee Donahue had two assists, and Bella Johnson made five saves for the win in goal.

Pelham 0, Souhegan 0

Bella Furtado made a dozen saves in the Python goal, while Brooke Cote, Kayli Milward, and Scarlett Mertz all delivered strong performances in the stalemate.

Volleyball

Concord-Carlisle 3, Lawrence 0

Leah Torres had three kills and 10 digs for Lawrence in the season-opener. Chanel Jimenez served five points and dished out five assists for the Lancers.

Marblehead 3, North Andover 0

Sophia Steely had a big effort for the Knights with eight kills and 19 digs. Brynn Patenaude dished out 17 assists, while Jayla Boylorn served six points with one ace.

Bishop Feehan 3, Andover 0

Jessie Wang had 11 kills, served a dozen points and added eight digs, but the Warriors dropped three tough sets to Feehan. Naomi Vajda had seven kills with three blocks. Kate Hillon stood strong defensively with 11 kills, and Tina Zheng passed out 21 assists.

Fellowship Christian 3, Mid-Vermont 0

Avery Robichaud smacked 14 kills for the Rams, and Maddie Black owned the service line with six aces.
