Rick Neuheisel and the CBS Sports "Inside College Football" crew made their weekly upset predictions early on in the week.
Aaron Taylor, Brian Jones and Randy Cross each had minor upset selections, going with Utah over BYU, Louisiana Monroe over Texas State, and Hawaii over UNLV, respectively.
But Neuheisel was a bit bolder with his pick, choosing a top-five college football program to fall on Saturday. And, sure enough, he was right, as the No. 4 Miami Hurricanes suffered a 28-23 loss to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Atlanta, GA.
Neuheisel notably mentioned when picking the Yellow Jackets that the return of quarterback Haynes King, who had missed their previous two games with an injury, would be a big factor in the game.
The junior from Longview, TX, only threw the ball six times in his return, but all six found their target for 32 yards and a score. King also showed off his wheels, recording 20 carries for 93 yards and another touchdown.
Miami quarterback and Heisman hopeful Cam Ward did everything he could to keep his team in the game, but it wasn't enough. The star completed 64.1% of his passes for 348 yards and three touchdowns.
However, with the Hurricanes down five under two minutes remaining, they had the ball with a chance to take the lead. On the second play of the drive, Ward was sacked for the third time on the day, fumbling the ball and giving it right back to the Yellow Jackets, ultimately ending the game.
The Week 11 loss marked the first of the season for a national championship-contending Miami team (9-1, 5-1 in ACC play). Meanwhile, Georgia Tech (6-4, 4-3 in ACC play) is bowl-eligible for the second-straight season.
All in all, a great prediction from Neuheisel.
