Rain will delay some harvest progress in MO - Brownfield Ag News

A farmer in mid-Missouri says the more than an inch of rain that's fallen over the past few days will delay second crop soybean harvest progress this week.

"We're waiting on late beans to dry down and we've been doing some tillage work."

But Jay Fischer tells Brownfield he's not complaining.

"It was so dry the last couple of weeks, at our pumpkin patch, we couldn't even do hayrides. It was so dusty and I've never seen it so dry in October."

Fischer says he's expecting to be back in the field in another three to four days.

USDA says soybean harvest is 86% complete in Missouri with corn harvest 91% complete, both ahead of average.

Cotton harvest is 84% complete and 44% of the winter wheat has emerged with the crop rated 61% good to excellent.
