ROLLA -- The Jefferson City Lady Jays posted a 2-3 record Friday and Saturday in the Rolla Tournament, winning the Silver Bracket to take ninth place in the 12-team tournament.
Jefferson City went 0-3 in Friday's pool-play action, losing 2-1 to the Sullivan Lady Eagles, 11-2 to the Willard Lady Tigers and 13-3 to the Nixa Lady Eagles.
Jillian Cripe's RBI single in the fifth inning scored Jefferson City's only run against Sullivan. Summer Branch struck out 13 batters in six innings without yielding a walk, giving up two unearned runs on two hits.
Kaylee Redcay had a pair of doubles against Willard and Finley Walker and Jaela Nickerson each had an RBI. Branch struck out five batters in 2⅓ innings and Allison Carwile had one striking in 3⅔ innings of relief.
Redcay, Walker, Nickerson and Cripe each had two hits against Nixa. Carwile had one walk and no strikeouts in 4⅓ innings pitched.
In Saturday's bracket play, Jefferson City won a rematch against Nixa 4-1.
Walker went 3-for-3 with a triple and a pair of RBI singles, while Branch had a pair of singles. Branch was also the winning pitcher, striking out eight batters and walking two in six innings.
In the bracket play finale, Jefferson City defeated Timberland 7-1.
Branch struck out nine batters with no walks in six innings, giving up one run on six hits.
Redcay had a pair of doubles, Cripe had a single and a double and Branch drove in a pair of runs.
Jefferson City finishes the regular season with a 17-12 record.
The Lady Jays are the No. 3 seed in the Class 4 District 7 Tournament, which will be played at Belton High School. Jefferson City plays sixth-seeded Raytown South (3-14) in the first round at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
