Dozens gather to support Poinciana family one year after deadly crash

A year after a tragic crash claimed four lives, dozens of people gathered at the intersection of Laurel Avenue and San Miguel Road to honor the victims and support their grieving family.A candlelight vigil was held at the crash site, where four members of Sabrina Hernandez's family lost their lives. Three passengers were in the teen's car. The four victims were Sabrina's mother and her three children. Sabrina Hernandez attended the vigil and spoke about the emotional toll the past year has taken."It's been a roller coaster," said Sabrina Hernandez. "You have days when you wake up and say, 'I'm going to make the most out of it,' and then you have days when you don't want to go on anymore."Despite the loss, no charges have been filed at this point against the teen driver, a fact that continues to haunt Sabrina Hernandez."This person's family is still enjoying Christmas and birthdays together and enjoying life, and my family's gone," she said.The Florida Highway Patrol has submitted its report to the state attorney's office, but no decision on charges has been made. Sabrina Hernandez expressed her frustration with the lack of progress in the case."It's unacceptable that I have to live my life in grief. Where is the justice? Isn't this country supposed to be built on a system of justice? I'm not seeing it," she said.Despite the ongoing pain, Sabrina Hernandez credited her faith with helping her endure the past year."You can be in the darkest corner of the world, and it will be the Lord that will come and save you," she said.As she continues to seek justice for her mother and children, Hernandez vowed to keep fighting.WESH2 News is still working to get an update on the case review from the state attorney's office.
