Interstate 41 is undergoing two major improvement projects this year, disrupting traffic from Neenah to Grand Chute. Here's what to know.
GRAND CHUTE - Several exits will be closed overnight this week along Interstate 41, between Neenah and Grand Chute, as the Interstate 41 rehabilitation project continues construction.
This project aims to rehabilitate the interstate between Breezewood Lane in Neenah and Northland Avenue in Grand Chute by repairing concrete on both the interstate and several on- and off-ramps, replacing bridge approaches and repairing sections of the concrete barrier, among other improvements and maintenance.
The project started in March, and is scheduled to run through November.
Here's what to know about the projects and what will be closed this week:
When will the I-41 rehabilitation project be done?
According to Bill Bertrand, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the project is still projected to finish sometime in November. While an exact date hasn't been determined, Bertrand told The Post-Crescent Monday that the weather will determine when the project can be finished, as the final touches would include laying down the pavement marking.
Bertrand also said that there will be no more long time closures now that this project is near completion.
"It looks like there's certainly a chance of rain, which makes it impossible to lay down pavement marking at this point, but we are looking to have the pavement marking again wrapped up by the November time frame," he said. "But if the contractor gets some excessive weather delays over the next couple weeks, that will definitely impact things as well."
