Alabama narrowly avoided back-to-back upsets on Saturday as they found a way to win against South Carolina, who found themselves a few plays away from defeating the No. 7 team in the country.
Up until the final five minutes of the first half, Alabama seemed to be in control of the ball game, until the Gamecocks tallied 19 unanswered points against the Tide, which included an ill-advised safety by Jalen Milroe. Alabama did not find any more points until the early moments of the fourth quarter.
The heat that the Crimson Tide has been receiving on social media by fans and experts is beyond fiery, with some fans calling for the firings of coordinators, and even Kalen DeBoer.
Tom Luginbill joined the Monday edition of The Next Round and discussed the current situation in Tuscaloosa, and had some interesting remarks that fans should take notice of.
"I thought there was a tremendous amount of situational awareness that was lacking from Alabama throughout the course of this game," Luginbill said.
"The last five or six minutes or so in the second quarter were inexplicable, sloppy, dangerous... I don't understand, right now, why Jalen Milroe seems to have this pension of holding on to the football... especially against a team like that whose two best players are along the defensive front in Kennard and Stewart. There just doesn't seem to be this urgency of dominance from this football team."
This is a critical response towards a team that has shown dominance early in the season, and has a massive win over a Top 5 team in Georgia.
If Alabama wants a chance to have a spot to play in the conference championship and the 12-team playoff, lots of adjustments need to be made in order to bring back what the Tide started off with this season.
