According to the Laurel County Sheriff's Office, I-75 has been closed nine miles north of London after numerous people were shot on Saturday.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Authorities have I-75 shut down in both directions in London, Kentucky after an apparent active shooter incident.

According to the Laurel County Sheriff's Office, I-75 has been closed nine miles north of London after numerous people were shot on Saturday.

Mayor Randall Weddle is encouraging motorists to use alternative routes and not to be anywhere in that area.

Gov. Andy Beshear said via X that his office has been made aware of the situation and will provide more details as they become available.

"I am receiving initial reports from the Kentucky State Police and our Office of Homeland Security -- together we are actively monitoring the situation and offering support in any way possible. Please pray for everyone involved."

The Laurel County Sheriff's Office has not disclosed the severity of the injuries the victims sustained in the shooting.
