Arch Manning Was the Talk of College Football After Texas-Georgia

The Texas Longhorns seemed to be invincible for the start of the 2024-25 college football season. Texas hadn't been in a true dog fight in the first couple of weeks, but Week 8 was a different story.

Georgia showed up to Austin, Texas, and dominated the Longhorns, 30-15.

During the first half, when the Longhorns were down 20-0, shining the bat signal, head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas staff decided to thrust backup quarterback Arch Manning into the lineup.

Quinn Ewers started the game for the Longhorns, but Sarkisian mentioned that the veteran signal-caller looked "uneasy" leading to the decision for Texas to play Manning for the final minutes of the first half.

Manning had limited snaps in the first half and Ewers came back to start for Texas in the third quarter.

Following Texas' experiment to play Manning, college football fans posted their thoughts on the decision. Some fans believe Texas should roll with Manning as the starter after Week 8.

"Becoming more evident that Quinn is not as good as Arch, there's not one thing he does better than him." said one fan.

"Arch is a better option that quinn rn." said another fan.

"The only reason arch manning should move in for quinn is bc he is more mobile. There is no other factor in this game that he would be better at than quinn." mentioned one fan.

"For better or worse, benching Quinn Ewers for Arch Manning will be the most consequential decision of the Steve Sarkisian era." commented one fan.

"If Quinn Ewers can't put together a good drive Texas has to put in Arch Manning at some point." said one fan.

"I've seen enough. Appreciate you Quinn, but I want Arch Manning to take this team over." said another fan.

Manning finished the game with 19 passing yards, completing 3-of-6 pass attempts.

Texas' starter starter, Quinn Ewers, posted two touchdowns and 211 yards, completing 25-of-43 pass attempts.

Both quarterbacks were able to spread the ball throughout the Longhorns offense. Running back Jaydon Blue finished the game with one touchdown on seven receptions and 48 yards. Tight end Gunnar Helm ended the contest with six receptions and 62 yards and wide receiver Matthew Golden has three receptions and 73 yards.
