"Sipping on gin and juice..." isn't just a line reminiscent of the Snoop Dogg hip-hop track for Gen X adults anymore. The Snoop DO-double-G is back with fellow rap icon Dr. Dre with the launch of the premium Still G.I.N. By Dre and Snoop.
The new pure spirit is the first hard liquor released by the duo, who previously launched the canned RTD sparkling cocktail Gin & Juice by Dre and Snoop last February. The RTD brand became first alcohol sponsor of an NCAA bowl game, with the Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl presented by Gin & Juice by Dre and Snoop.
As more than an obvious nod to Snoop's 1990s classic, which was produced by Dr. Dre, the new Still G.I.N. takes another page from Dr. Dre's and Snoop's catalogue, with the name an homage to the hit "Still D.R.E." from Dr. Dre's multiplatinum album "2001."
"Every day in the studio when Dre and I were trying to make the dopest music, we were drinking gin and just having fun," Snoop Dogg said in the release. "We've been a part of the evolution of this gin -- from the creation of the flavor to the percentage of alcohol that's in it!"
Still G.I.N. By Dre and Snoop is described by the brand as having "a citrus-forward profile, with subtle floral and spice notes... highly mixable and supremely drinkable." The gin blend uses the old-school method of vapor distillation in a copper pot. The brand is marketing the new launch through earned and social media.
The 85 proof (42.5% ABV) Still G.I.N. is distributed nationally for $34.99 through Southern Glazer's Wine and Spirits and available at Total Wine and More and online. The packaging, A Honeycomb bottle design, was created by international luxury designer Ini Archibong.
