CARLSBAD, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Police in North County are actively searching for a suspect reported to be armed with a knife Saturday evening.

Carlsbad Police issued a public announcement on X at 6:45 p.m. Saturday that the ABLE police helicopter is making announcements in the Bressi Ranch area of Carlsbad, near El Fuerte Street and Gateway Road, for an active search of a man police say is armed with a knife.

According to the police department, the suspect is described as a Hispanic man, 5'6'', heavyset, wearing a white shirt and dark pants.

Carlsbad Police are asking anyone who sees the suspect to call 911 immediately.
