WELDON, N.C. (WNCN) -- A Roanoke Rapids man was busted for meth Monday, the second time he was nabbed in a little over two months, according to the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.

The latest arrest happened around 1 a.m. Monday when a deputy noticed a car with an expired registration number plate, officials said in a news release from the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.

The deputy stopped the car at the intersection of 9th and Sycamore streets. During the traffic stop, the driver was asked to step out of the car.

When the deputy performed a "pat down" on the driver, methamphetamine and a concealed gun were found, the news release said.

Deputies said David Lance Berwick, 45, of Roanoke Rapids was charged with:

Berwick was arrested on Aug. 23 for marijuana and methamphetamine possession after a traffic stop in the Zoo Road area of Roanoke Rapids, according to deputies.

In Monday's arrest, Berwick received no bond and was confined to the detention center with a Nov. 21 court date.
