Strictly's Craig Revel Horwood wishes he has a 'zero' score paddle

Strictly's Craig Revel Horwood wishes he has a 'zero' score paddle

The judge confessed he would "definitely" use it if he had the opportunity to award some of the contestants on the BBC dance show nothing at all for their performances. But he admitted he didn't think producers would ever allow it. The tough Strictly judge also revealed he loves it when contestants answer him back.

Revel Horwood appeared on The One Show to talk to hosts Vick Hope and Roman Kemp about the upcoming Halloween week of Strictly, as well as the introduction of Icons week this series for the first year ever.

Reading out viewers' questions Revel Horwood was asked if he use a 'ero' score paddle if he had one. The judge shouted gleefully: "Yes darling! Give me one! Of course I'd use it. They won't allow it though."

The choreographer has a reputation for being the toughest judge on the BBC dance show and is renowned for his harsh criticism and low scores. But this series comedian Chris McCausland has formed a habit of responding to Revel Horwood's criticism of his dances and firing back quick-witted insults.

Revel Horwood said: "He's so brilliant, isn't he? I love the fact that he answers me back. It's so good, and I will never try it and beat him at his own game. I don't mind them throwing punches my way. I love it.

"I think the more they loosen up and speak and have a laugh, the better it is, you know? And he's a perfect example of that. You know, he takes it seriously, but at the same time he has a bit of a joke with it That's what it's all about."

Revel Horwood said he was still deciding what music legend he would dress up as for Icons week, but joked to fellow The One Show guests the Sugababes he'd love to dress up as them.

He said: "Icons. I love this. This is going be great because it can be anyone - Marilyn Monroe to George Michael. It could be Boy George. It could be anybody you want to be. And I think that is great. We've never had this before.

"I mean, I would come as the Sugababes. Obviously, if I could do all three of you once, just throw the wigs on and change them. It's going to be great fun. It's the first time we've actually ever done this, so I'm looking forward to it. I'm looking forward to seeing who I'm going to be as well."

He also asked Keisha Buchanan how long she had actually been given to rehearse for Christmas Strictly 2023, confessing he did not know. He asked: "How long do you actually get to rehearse? Cause I have no clue. I mean, I just come in, judge everyone." Buchanan revealed; "So I had the least amount of time I had, like, three days. And then I learned the second routine on the day. With no dance experience because everyone was like, 'You're gonna kill it 'cause you're a pop star.' And I was like, 'No, we're actually known for not dancing.' "

The One Show airs on BBC One at 7pm on weekdays.
