ABBYY is a global company that specializes in intelligent document processing, using AI to process documents, capture data quickly and more. Moving its headquarters to Austin is part of a larger transformation for the company as ABBYY, which employs 800 people, also brings in new leadership and streamlines other aspects of its operations, according to a news release.
"Relocating our headquarters to Austin, where our product leadership team already is, places us at the heart of a growing tech ecosystem," Ulf Persson, CEO at ABBYY, said in the release. "Together with our development centers in the U.S., India, and Hungary, we're tapping into top global talent in AI, machine learning, and product development to drive our next phase of growth and innovation."
Other changes for ABBYY include bringing in Hopeful Owitti from OutSystems to serve as vice president of customer experience and appointing Nick Hyatt, formerly of Ionic, as vice president of engineering, according to the release.
The company will host a digital event called ABBYY Ascend on October 30, during which leadership will discuss the brand's latest AI advancements and more of ABBYY's future plans to maintain its reputation as a trailblazer in intelligent automation.
ABBYY's office in Milpitas, California will stay open, and staff who work there will not be required to relocate to Austin, according to a report from SFGate. MySA reached out to ABBYY for comment.
