Jayden Hardaway, former Memphis Tiger and son of Penny Hardaway, taken in G League Draft

Jayden Hardaway, the eldest son of Memphis basketball coach Penny Hardaway, was selected by the Capital City Go-Go in the G League Draft Saturday afternoon.

Hardaway - who was the 56th overall pick - played five seasons for his father with the Tigers, finishing with a career 3.3 points per game average. His most productive season was 2022-23, when he put up 5.4 points per game. In 2021-22, Hardaway hit 46.2% of his 3-point attempts.

Hardaway will begin his professional career playing for a familiar face. Cody Toppert is entering his second season as head coach of the Go-Go (the Washington Wizards' G League affiliate). Toppert spent three seasons (2019-22) as an assistant coach under Penny Hardaway at Memphis.

The Go-Go used their first pick of Saturday's G League Draft to select another child of an NBA All-Star. Former USC standout DJ Rodman was taken with the 43rd pick. His father, Dennis Rodman, is a Hall of Famer and five-time NBA champion.
