For the third consecutive season, Miami Ferguson swept the GMAC titles in bowling at Bird Bowl in Miami.

Ferguson's girls went undefeated en route to the championship, while the boys' team fought back from the loser's bracket to capture the title.

The top seeded Lady Falcons received a bye and then beat Miami Krop before defeating Miami TERRA twice for the championship.

The boys' team, also the top seed, beat Miami Southwest but then lost to Miami Columbus. The Falcons regrouped, eliminating Hialeah Gardens and Miami Southwest. They defeated Krop in the semifinals and then beat Columbus twice for the championship.

The one-day, double-elimination format featured 15 teams, playing 112 games.

Ferguson entered GMAC undefeated this season with the boys' and girls' teams each at 11-0. Columbus handed the Ferguson boys their first defeat of the season at GMAC, but the Falcons avenged that loss twice.

Cross-country

Miami Divine Savior senior Mateo Sotelo won the 305 Cross-Country Classic at Larry & Penny Thompson Park in Miami.

Sotelo covered the 3.1-mile course in 16 minutes 54 seconds, besting a field of 143 runners. The Sharks were eighth of 19 teams.

Earlier in the season, Sotelo established himself as one of the top runners in the region when he broke the 5K school record with a time of 16 minutes 28 seconds.

At the 305 Classic, Plantation American Heritage won the boys' team title. Coral Gables was second, followed by Miami Sunset. Gabriel Carr, a senior at Sunset, was runner-up in 17:02.33.

In the girls' race, Miami Coral Gables won the team championship over 11 other teams. The Cavaliers were led by junior Avril Donner, who won the individual title in 19:52. Key West senior Caylaa Makimaa was second of 109 runners in 20:30.20.

Quarterback Zac Katz returned to the Miami True North football team after a brief stint with Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna and led the Titans to a 55-49 victory over University Christian in Jacksonville. It was a victorious homecoming for coach Travis Makauskas, who is from Jacksonville.
